Counting Crows go label-free

Joining the ranks of Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails, the members of the Counting Crows have decided to separate themselves from label Geffen Records, which is a part of Universal Music Group.

TechCrunch insinuated that bands are unhappy with the 360 music deal, which gives labels a cut of all revenue created by the band. The 360 contract also allows labels to hand out free music to create a buzz about the band or the band’s work.

As Will.I.am from the Black Eyed Peas says, “The new distributors are not Tower Records. The new distributor is your niece.”
