Here’s a nice article from Forbes about Apple remaining profitable in the midst of a rescission (they did take a hit, but not nearly as bad a lot of other companies in their position). They point to the low price, but high profit margins, for the new iPod Shuffles as a major reason the company continues to post big earnings. Another interesting note is that Apple has stayed out of making low budget computers, and has seen it’s first loss in year-over-year Mac sales in five years. Those two facts don’t necessarily tie in with one another, but don’t be surprised if Apple comes up with a more recession friendly priced Mac sometime in the future.
